Welshpool Primary School

Back in January, we were all set to install a full size basketball court at Welshpool Primary School. The plan was to complete the works right after a brand new roof was constructed to cover the court area. Like many school projects, this one came with challenges. The original expectation was that the students would be enjoying their new court in Term 1, but with the roof never eventuating, the timeline was pushed back almost a full year. The transformation has been well worth the wait.

A Court Built for Play, Sport, and School Pride

The finished result is a 15m x 30m basketball court, designed to meet full size dimensions while providing a multi purpose surface for the school community. The layout includes:

• Dark grey keys that bring definition to the basketball markings
• A vibrant blue outer court, creating a crisp high contrast finish
• A large four square handball court in the middle, incorporating the school’s own colours red and black as a bold centrepiece

This design offers more than just functionality. It reflects Welshpool Primary’s identity and energy. The red and black four square addition makes the court a true hub for playtime activities as well as structured sport.

More Than Just a Basketball Court

While basketball will no doubt be the main attraction, the versatility of this space cannot be overlooked. Four square and handball are hugely popular games in the primary school setting. By combining those markings with the basketball layout, Sports Courts Victoria created a surface that keeps students active and engaged throughout the day.

The colour scheme also gives the court a dynamic, professional look that makes the students feel proud of their school grounds. When schools incorporate their colours into court designs, it sparks a sense of ownership among the students and brings their community closer together.
