In November 2024, the team at Sports Courts Victoria was approached by a Geelong family looking for a creative court solution — a space where they could shoot hoops and practice roller hockey to stay sharp for the ice. The result? A dual-purpose backyard court that balances performance, durability, and fun.

Custom backyard basketball and roller hockey court in Geelong

This backyard build wasn’t your standard basketball install. The family needed a surface suitable for both basketball and ice hockey practice on rollerblades. After a detailed consultation, we recommended our Slam Man sport court tiles — a hard-wearing tile with ideal slide and grip properties for multi-sport use.

Designed for both basketball and hockey

To help the customer make an informed decision, we pointed them to similar projects nearby so they could trial the surface in rollerblades. After just one visit, they were sold. The Slam Man tiles worked perfectly — smooth enough for puck movement but grippy enough for safe roller play.

Puckman tiles and a court tailored to performance

Alongside the Slam Man surface, we installed Puckman court tiles — engineered for ice hockey training — giving the court true versatility. The full 4.7m x 9.3m court in grey and blue was installed during school hours to surprise the kids, with every detail tailored to the family’s needs.

Customer feedback

“Words cannot describe how professional and outstanding the service was with Jason and his amazing crew… Sports Courts Victoria went above and beyond to tailor our court and keep it a surprise for the kids. If you’re thinking about getting a court with excellent service and product — look no further.”

“Why just slam when you can puck too!”
