Project Overview
In March 2025, a Melbourne family approached Sports Courts Victoria seeking a basketball solution for an odd-shaped backyard. The area featured irregular dimensions on all sides and a ring post set 300 mm off-centre. Our brief was to deliver a high-performance court that maximises play and elevates property appeal and value. This project is a perfect example of our promise: Any Size, Any Shape, Anywhere.
Tailored Design & Consultation
We reviewed the client’s sketch and measurements, discussed tile selection and colour options, and recommended Slam Man “Elite” tiles. These were custom cut and line-marked onsite to ensure a perfect fit. With retaining walls on three sides, we shared examples of previous custom courts, palettes and reviews to help the client visualise the outcome and feel confident in the plan. Once again, this showcased our ability to design and deliver Any Size, Any Shape, Anywhere.
Precision Installation
We fabricated the key in our warehouse, then installed it centred to the ring post, allowing for backboard overhang. We infilled the surrounding area with outer tiles and carefully trimmed pieces to meet the retaining walls, leaving a small expansion gap. Finally, we applied regulation key and 3-point line markings in glow-in-the-dark white for day-and-night visibility.
The Result
The once-awkward space is now a functional, stylish feature that adds real value. Dark Grey and Charcoal Blue tiles, accented by glowing white line markings, create a striking look in both daylight and evening. The court delivers a consistent bounce and a professional playing experience. It is another example of how we deliver on our commitment: Any Size, Any Shape, Anywhere.
